Country Houses

Devon Mansion

Here we assisted the country house owner in exploring the introduction of a traditional dower house in the extensive grounds.

17th/18th century large country house

AHC were commissioned to producing a Heritage Statement at this Grade I listed house in Cornwall and to assist during the succession of the next generation to secure the estate's long term future and viablity.

Grade I listed mansion, south-west

We were commissioned to undertake an architectural and historical analysis of this 17th-century mansion. This very complex building was worked upon by three major 18th-century English architects and we were able to unravel the building’s history using its fabric and archival material.

Victorian mansion, Surrey

Architectural and historical appraisal of a High-Victorian mansion with listed Arts & Crafts outbuildings. This listed mansion has been empty for a decade and, working with a team of architects, we have been able to secure a sensitive, low-intensity conversion scheme that protects and retains the historic integrity of the building.

Montacute, Somerset

AHC was approached by the National Trust to carry out an architectural and historical appraisal of the Orangery at Montacute House, Somerset, within the context of the North Garden and the wider landscape. The existing roof had failed and historic information, such as the date of origin of the building and the original configuration of the roof, was rerquired. Following archival research, AHC provided a comprehensive history of the building that informed an application for listed building consent to repair the roof.

Country house, south of England

Here we have been able to advise the new owners and their team of architects, surveyors, and landscape architects on the appropriate restoration and upgrading of the entire estate. We have produced a comprehensive Heritage Statement and several Supporting Statements to help the planning and listed building consent process.

Kensington Palace

At this highly sensitive site AHC was asked to provide a Heritage Impact Assessment of a large, international temporary arts exhibition. After an analysis of the evolution and significance of the Palace vicinity, including its gardens and wider landscape, we were able to advise on the suitability of the proposed location and assist so that the exhibition could go ahead with no negative impacts upon the site.
